Welcome to the cave of Lastournelle

Hidden away within the lush landscapes of the lot-et-Garonne at Sainte Colombe de Villeneuve-sur-Lot, you will find one of the true pearls of aquitaine (South West of France): the Lastournelle caves.

These limestone caves have developed over 25 million years, building up a host of stalactites, stalagmites and limestone tapestries of an incomparable richness.

The Lastournelle Cave was discovered in 1878 when a well was drilled.  Farmers living on that property dug down in an attempt to find a water source .  They didn’t find water, but instead discovered the cave.

 45 minutes guided tour of the caves allowing you to explore this spectacular underground world

The caves are divided into 7 rooms :

Spring room

The tour follows the natural formation of the caves and is easily accessible.  However, wheelchair access is not currently possible.

It is 14 degrees in the cave and the ground is wet, plan walking shoes and jacket.

In the morning until 12AM: dare to try an authentic visit by torch-light

At 12 AM : dare to try an authentic visit by torch-light and on the return we switch on the light

On the afternoon : we switch on the light

To 1st until 11th july : daily tour at 11.00 AM, 2.00 PM, 3.00 PM, 4.00PM

To 12th july until 20th august : daily tour every hour 

To 20th august to 31th august : daily tour at 11.00 AM, 2.00 PM, 3.00 PM, 4,00PM

September :

The Lastournelle caves are situated at Sainte Colombe de Villeneuve in the Lot and Garonne department (47), between Agen and Villeneuve sur Lot.

Travelling from Villeneuve sur Lot – leave the town in the direction of Pujols or Prayssas and follows the signs to the caves

Travelling from Agen – leave the town in the direction of Villeneuve sur Lot, then at La Croix Blanche, follow the signs to the caves.
